The Ion™ is based on our best-selling click pen kit the Atom2 - it needs the same bushings and drill size - 2 different kits - 1 set of tools!

A premium pen kit with reliable bi-directional twist mechanism with a long single barrel to allow the turner to express their design flair - very much an artisans pen kit

This kit comes with a Parker style refill so refills are readily available in a variety of qualities, colours and brands - we stock Premium Schmidt refills for that extra special writing experience

The simplicity of design does not overshadow the hand turned element like so many modern pens do

Ion™ is ideally a turn-between-centres kit - a mandrel is NOT required - this provides better turning accuracy and there are no mandrel parts obstructing the tool rest

Bushings that fit a mandrel are now available if required

These kits are NOT compatible with PNC pencil converter kits

Easy and elegant

I chose this as being simple for my first ever stab at pen making but also because it has a large single expanse of wood - if you are making a wooden pen, you want to show off the wood. The bushings made it very easy to turn, though they are a very tight fit into the barrel, and things like trimming it to length on a belt sander was also straightforward. Don't be put off by the idea that something has to be measured to the nearest 0.1mm - the right length is the length of the barrel supplied so even total numpties like me can manage - and I subscribe to the "measure twice, cut wrong" school of woodworking...

Anyhow, I'll be ordering a few more as I know what presents people are getting this year and I've already had multiple requests from other people about making them some or getting kits for our local Shed.

Elegant twist pen kit, gun metal finish

I made up the my kit using gun metal finish, with a knoblly bit of wood that was not much use for anything. The turning, assembly and final finish produced a pen that looks elegant and feels more like a premium pen compared to most other kits.

Quality feel

I have been using the Atom click pen, but wanted to try this new pen, really like it, nice weighty feel, all parts are metal (most if not all brass) great mechanism, will be using this a lot, easy to put together if you follow the simple instructions. That's one thing I love about Prokraft, video's and all the info you need, and help if you ask for it,

Nice pen and easy to turn using the mandrel. Would have been nice to have the assembly instructions in the box like you sent with the other pen kits I ordered.

The fitting guides are provided as PDF which can be printed, this saves reams of paper being sent to customers who regularly buy the same kits. It also enables you to see how the kit is contructed and the tools required before purchasing. The eBay store cannot feature PDF documents (they are not accepted) so we include a paper copy with those orders only.
